Nicole has joined our growing print & design sector here at Ian Smiths as our new Design Manager. With a strong print and digital background combined with her previous experience as Lead Graphic Designer for a large academy group, she is a great addition to our diverse and talented team. She loves bold colours, white space (?!) and anything Apple. You’ll often see her reading design blogs, discovering the latest design trends and fuelling her passion for all things print and digital. We asked Nicole a few questions…
Why did you chose Ian Smith Office Supplies?
I love the passion and drive that Ian Smiths have, it is clear to see in all members of staff from the account managers out on the road to the guys packing the orders in the warehouse. I knew I could fit in well with their plans to grow the print & design department and am confident my knowledge and experience will be well placed. I’m ambitious and forward thinking when it comes to design and so is Smiths, so it’s an ideal match. Luckily, I didn’t have to work too long on a PC before they agreed that I needed brand spanking new iMac. Now, with all the tools I could possibly needed, everything has fallen into place and I am looking forward to what the future brings.
What is your favourite city and why?
I love loads of cities but being a creative type I must say London is my favourite UK city – I trip over amazing concepts and ideas (quite literally did trip over in Shoreditch on my last visit!) and am constantly inspired by the surroundings. You won’t find somebody that dislikes coffee more than me so stumbling across me at the London Coffee Festival would have been a definite no, no but… I know how well London does a coffee shop and a good coffee shop is always lead by a fantastic brand identity. One of my favourites is The Watch House (http://www.watchhousecoffee.com/) take a look at their instagram (@watchhousese1) and tell me they don’t do a good job of making coffee look like the tastiest thing on earth, even to somebody that can’t stand the taste!!
Vegas is another favourite of mine, it is literally impossible to not LOVE Vegas! Cities for me are about escaping, blending into the crowd so you can watch the world go by and experience something totally different. Vegas completely overwhelms the senses and has this unreal quality – like you’re on a film set – and although people say three days is enough, I could happily do three weeks (if only I had the $$$$$).
